Mistake Katherine Smith
Im not sure what I expected to come from cleansing my filthy soul.
So much hostility and emptiness--Ive allowed these feelings to consume who I once was.
Holding onto resentment that refuses to fade into the night, Im black and blue
Without staples for these broken wings.
In my head I see a slideshow of every event that damaged me
Like a movie reel, the picture will fade unless replaced with a sequence of equally traumatic events
To continue this story.
Wondering when and what is next to come
Existing no longer living
Ive become a coward who cannot stomach the taste of their own mortality
Im containing what I want
How I feel
Masquerading this joker beneath the surface
Ive never felt so dirty being so selfless.
Their broken expressions melt my heart
And send my thoughts back into the abyss from once they came
How long can I contain the madness that torments me everyday
No ear to listen, no shoulder to lean on
No stone to throw at the glass house
No excuses, just a mistake.
Me.
