From Me
Peter Elvern People

Creeping flesh along my soul
whips my pain out with ease,
grating against my bones...

Something is eating away at me,
penetrating my mind, to hurt...

(please come save my carcass...)

Vultures pick at my heart,
which pumps black blood through me.
My body cramps without it;
black and rich, flowing free...

(nothing can ease this pain...)

Placing my hurt against the wall,
red trails of anger spray;
self-pity is thrown, put aside,
pain inflicted, sharp against it.
Flesh wounds pulse beneath it,
darkening...hidden after a time...

(what is this feeling of pain...)
(why isn't it nulled by this...)

Piercing, slicing, hurting hope...
When it ends, it erupts,
bloodied flesh outstretched,
losing my soul through each drop...
Enlarged hands of destruction
can no longer grasp at this,
unable to pull me out of it...

I just lay back, and wait for time
to start again, wishing to be as I was,
okay, and full of hope for this life.

(but it's not there...nothing stays with me...)

"This is nasty shit, what the hell made you write it? I can't really see much relevance to anything, is it just about pain, or is there something I'm missing?" -- Iain Spittles.
