A Love So Pure
Virginia A. Sheppard

Darkness falls upon me as I wait for thee,
thoughts flood my mind, I realize where my heart longs to be.

One wish I make upon a single falling star,
to be together for an eternity, bonded as we are.

Bonded by our hearts, branded by our souls,
never believing what we were once told.

For I know what strongly lies within my heart of hearts,
I promise you my love, never shall we part.

Through distance; we continue to love and grow, our thoughts always on eachother.
This strong bond we share is stronger than thy nurturing mother.

A short time ago, I feared this new found love,
I even questioned our Father in heaven above.

To allow my heart to love as never before,
to be completely fulfilled, never wanting or needing anything more.

I close my eyes and see your twinkling eyes, your wonderful face,
God, how seeing you makes my heart race.
I take a deep breath as I imagine your arms wrapped tightly around me.

Cradled in the comfort of your loving arms, hearing your heartbeat softly in my ear...
This is where I long to be,
to finish this life, just you and me.

I pray to God that this is not a cruel punishment,
Deep in my heart, I know that this is not just another one of life's embellishments.

Love is as pure as the white dove I often see encircling the deep blue sky,
love as I have never known, tis what I see when I gaze into your hazel eyes.

How thoughts of you constantly consume my every being,
desires of wanting you, holding you, kissing you, sends my heart reeling.

As each day passes on, I continue to pray,
For I know someday soon, it will be our day.

Yes, my love, my greatest wish is to be with you,
The feelings I feel in my heart are pure and true.

The walls that once shielded me have finally come down,
Without a doubt, I love you and will continue to make you proud.
