TITLE (EDIT)
The Shadow
DESCRIPTION
This is a poem that was written one Christmas eve back in 1995. The power had gone out and the only light I had to write by was that of the fireplace we had lit for warmth.

The Shadow
Mandi Daddona

                          The Shadow
                       By Mandi Daddona

The flame of its yellow golden color
Is screaming to me for help,
To release its power on the material objects around us.

A whirlwind of emotions,
Happiness and sadness,
All mixed together.
A tornado of thoughts
Rushing through my mind,
With no real answers,
Just hopes.

As the warm fire burns,
And heats our hearts,
I take notice of my shadow.
It mimicks my every move,
As a child mimicks its mother.

The shadow dances around the dimly lit room,
In happiness and laughter.
The shadow drifts from wall to wall,
In loneliness and sadness.

What is this image upon the wall?
Is it a friend who is always there for you?
The shadow, an image on the wall and ground.
The shadow that wtches over us all,
And keeps us safe and sound.
