From My Window I Watched
Mike Piotrowski

From my window I watched,

I starred deep into the fields of grey before me,
I could hear nothing but the soft whisper of the wind,
Mirroring my soul,
Frightening was this sight of utter desolation,
How far have I gone?

From my window I watched,

The rain starting to beat softly against the glass,
Each drop slowly trickling down as if they resembled long forgotten tears,
I began to shiver,

From my window I watched,

The dark clouds seemed to reflect strange shapes and figures from above,
Like shadows they transformed and shifted,
Taunting me to madness,

Slowly creeping softly through the fields,
Walking awkwardly,
It came to my window,
Looked into my eyes with disbelief and tears,
Who was this strange figure?

From my window I watched,

It screamed beyond the transparent barrier,
Which seemed so close but yet so far,
As if the glass itself was a window into another world,
A world I cannot fully understand,

From my window I watched,

The screaming words were barely audible,
"I love you",
Tears slowly began to flow their way from my glazed eyes,
Falling gently,
I knew I could do nothing,

So,

From my window I watched,
