"Suppose you pull up a chair."
"This chair?"
"That chair, just pull it up and sit down. This may take some time."
The hum of the electric lights filters around the room like stale air. It's like breathing someone else's spit.
"I really can't understand why I was asked to come down here," the slim man says as he pulls up the chair and sits.
"Just to answer some questions--You can answer questions can't you?"
"I guess."
The room's gray walls loom, a green table sits in the center. Garbage can in the corner below the light switch.
"You like children?"
"What do you mean?" the slim man asks. He's concern with the air in the small room. He's concern with the expression in the face of the man asking him questions.
"Like them--like children that's what I mean. It's a simple question."
"Yes." The slim man holds a hand to his face like a dust mask. "I love all children."
"Ever touch any of these children?"
Indignation!
"Only in a loving way."
"And that's the point isn't it?"
Confusion crawls up the spine of the slim man. "I came here to set things straight. I gave myself up."
"Just answer the question, Michael."
"Yes, I've touched children. I hold their hands, I hug them. I love children."
"We already established that, freak!" A bang to the mirror calms the man asking questions. He takes a few seconds to gather himself.
"Excuse me?"
"I think we've heard enough." The man asking questions faces the mirror. "Take him down to receiving and put him through the works; photographs of his bodyeverything."
Fear and trepidation ices the slim man's soul. The media would pay anything to get one of those photographs. "But you don't understand I love children."
"I know that's the point isn't it?"

"Thank all of you including "C" being he took time to post you remarks. Sometimes we just want people to know we are alive!" -- e rocco caldwell.
"Don't worry Kelly one day you'll reach ho status." -- C.
"This is excellent and i would love to see you expand on it. Nice job!" -- KM.
"Interesting piece Rocco... I too would like to see you follow this with more. Great job! " -- D. G. Williford.
"needs a little background music - maybe 'beat it'. " -- JAG.
"I've perused much that you have written, mostly out of curiosity to develop a mental picture of you. You are most likely a young, black man (probably homosexual) who has a deep seated hatred for whites and the white establishment in general. You have some literary talent but your vision of your own ability and intellect is greatly exaggerated. You are a free man, yet nearly everthing you write about has the aura of lashing out at an enemy who would seek to enslave you. I suspect you are filled with paranoia, the primary source of which is your own guilt." -- Richard.
"And what university did you get your degree in psychology? First off, I am African-American but you missed on everything after this. I happened to be Married with two lovely daughters and a wonderful wife. I am a Assistant Pastor at a Christian Church and have worked inner city ministries since I was 18 I am 43 now. I have been a youth pastor for a number of years prior to being a Assisant pastor. I don't hate homosexuals but believe they are tormented because of other's inabilities to look beyond their own insecurities. I don't hate anyone but write about people I know...a lot are angry at the system that tehy see is white. There is freedom and yes I know I'm free but only to a point as are you. The presumption you make is that you are free yourself...but in reality we are tied down by the laws and cultures we participate in. I write about these cultures and mindsets! I appreciate your commit on my ability to write even though it was sort of a slam but I write what I feel. There's racism in the world, in this country on the strrets and in the workplace...that's reality! To ignore it is foolish. But at the same time there are people like I individuals I was blessed to meet to show me a different side to this world. I know there are more people who don't see race in the world that do! I have no guilt...Jesus my Lord freed me of all guilt. " -- e. rocco caldwell.
"You say our freedom is limited to the laws and cultures we participate in. What else is there? To wander aimlessly through life without having beliefs in a fundamental culture and laws, which are based upon a belief in God, is to grant license to any type of behavior. Incidentally, this is where we are headed, with the emphasis on secularism, not only in this country but throughout Europe. Our eutopian vision of a global economy is running parallel with global secularism. No God, no morality, no right or wrong and a reliance on a socialistic ideology to take from the successful and reward those who have no desire to be successful. " -- Richard.
"Look, Richard, I can careless about the philosophical mojo you are talking about...you attacked me as an individual saying things that weren't true based on your bogus analysis of me! As a writer I write about things I think will entertain and perhaps educate (not always) a reader. I write about things I believe in and things I don't. To base an analysis of a person on his or her creative writing is ...not very smart! I wanted you to know how wrong you were about me...Everything esle is inconsequential! The fact is you don't know what i think or anything else! It's best to keep it that way!" -- e. rocco caldwell.
"Writing to entertain? I don't see much of that in your work. Educating others requires objectivity. Likewise, I don't see much of that from you. I apologize to you for assuming you were gay. Your writing reflects more than merely acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle, which caused me to reach that conclusion. You ought to read David Horowitz's "Left Illusions." It might change your perspective about white America." -- Richard.
"First, I'm not white and you're not black! We are npt going to enjoy the same things. Objectivity is not seeing things the way you see them but my providing other views Views you might not like or accept or even believe in) because diversity is the cornerstone of objectivity. I would suggest you read the collective works of Noam Chomsky but you will already make an assumption concerning him because he wouldn't agree with your views. You made conclusions about me based on what I wrote but maybe the fact you're hung up on gays is because you have deep-rooted homosexual tendencies and why you think my stuff is racial is because deep down you are a white racist? See, I can make whatever assumption I wish concerning you and what you write. I don't accept the homosexual lifestyle...if you read the piece I did on gay marriage you would see that I never condoned gay marriage I just simply stated it was constitutional. See I can look beyond my own religious understanding to make a objective statement on an issue. Something you can't seem to do. In your world if poeple don't believe the way you believe they are wrong pure and simple...I stop believing I was God a long time ago. I can co-exist in harmony with those who don't believe the way I do. It doesn't lessen me as a person one bit. I learned this by writing. Yes, I write to entertain. Some people like what I write and are entertained by it...some like yourself don't! I'm sorry about that. We are educated everytime we read something regardless if you accept it or not! This is the process of be educated! " -- e. rocco caldwell.
"I don't want to beat this topic to death but I will say that I've been aware for years, of the Freudian bullshit about latent homosexuality. This theory is embraced primarily by homosexuals themselves, perhaps because it comforts them to believe that most men are not too far removed from them. Thus, education is only meaningful if it is based upon fact or truth and substance as opposed to unproven theory. Granted, you see the world from a black man's perspective, and it may be quite different from mine, but that does not mean it is reality nor does it mean that others should accept your view merely because it is diverse. Diversity in itself, is not a virtue. " -- Richard.
"Okay! I teach Christian Apologetics at my church along with recognizing Christian cults and I have learned when a person isn't debating in order to be enlightened so the best thing to do is to end the conversation. You are not willing to listen to a thing I have said but only wish to criticize my because if you would agree to any point I have made it may lessen you in some way! I'm sorry you assume I hate white people and that I am some how pushing a homosexual agenda and that my writing talent is distorted by over exaggerated vision and intellect. Your opinions and you can have them! I hope they keep you warm in the chill of ignorance and egotism! God bless you and have a safe and long life! Rocky out!". " -- e. rocco caldwell.
