Cody And Jenna's Magic Carpet Ride
Lindsey R S Dingo

Hi, my name is Cody. I am now eight years old. I just turned eight this morning. Now I am
going to tell you a story that happened a whole year ago, the night I turned seven. It
happened to me and my nine year old sister Jenna who is now ten.
Good-night Cody, good-night Jenna sleep tight. That was my mom calling to us from down the stairs, she wasnt tucking us in because she had to clean up the mess from the party. Hey, Cody. Jenna called from across the room from her bed, Are you asleep? No. I yelled back quietly. Hey did you have a good birthday? Yeah . I called back happily glad I was finally seven. Do you feel any different than when you did when you were six? she asked. Well I replied I do feel a little taller. Do I look it? Not really but I guess you could be a little taller. she said with a laugh. Well then maybe I will grow while Im sleeping. Maybe. Good-night Im going to sleep. she said with a yawn. Ya Im tired too. Good-night. I replied with another yawn, and we both fell fast asleep.
About an hour later we heard a Boom, Boom, Boom! Me and Jenna both jumped up. Me who was younger ran across the room and got into Jennas bed and hid under her covers. Something just flew into the window. Jenna whispered into my ear. Maybe it was a bird. Or a vampire. I whispered back. dont be silly. she said Even I know that theres no such thing as vampires and I couldnt be a bird it was too big. It kind of looked like a boy. I was terribly puzzled just thinking how in the world could a boy fly through the window. Lets go see what it was. Jenna said. Are you nuts. It could be a vampire who has come to suck our blood. I yelled. Shhhhhhh. be quiet she said. Come on. she got out of bed dragging me with her. Oh my gosh what was that? I yelled. Jenna screamed. I was joking . I said laughing. Jenna hit me on the arm, That wasnt funny. she said in a scared way. I thought she was about to pea her pants, but then again so was I. We walked across the room over to my bureau. Next to it there was a yellow, pink and light green striped rug and next to the rug was a boy about Jennas age. He was bleeding on his leg. Oh my goodness. Are you ok. Jenna rushed by his side to help him. He didnt say anything he just groaned. I ran and got the first aid kit from out of the hall closet right next to our room. Jenna took out a napkin and wiped off the blood. Then she put some Neosporin on the band-aid and gently covered up the cut. So whats your name? she asked. Im Jenna. the boy jumped up and hoped onto his carpet. My name is Justin. he said. Would you like to go for a ride on my carpet? A ride on you carpet? she said in a laughing way. You must be joking. she was smiling as she said it. I assure you that I am not joking. said Justin. Wait a second. Jenna said. You are trying to tell us that you have a magic carpet? she looked really confused. Yes. That is what I am trying to say. he replied. Thats so cool. I blurted out. I want to go for a ride. Absolutely not. Jenna yelled. No, no, no, no one is going for a ride because carpets cant fly and your not real. Carpets can only fly in fairytales and guess what Cody this is real life. But would if its not, would if it is real and you dont let me go then what? You know you really need to loosen up have a little fun once in a while. I said right back at her. I felt like I was going to cry because she was acting like my mother.
Ever since my father died she thinks I need two mothers, which I dont. then Justin looked into Jennas eyes and said in a very soft, low voice, Please come for a ride it will be fun I promise. I think Jenna liked him or something because she finally caved in to him. Ok. I guess, but only if were back before my mom wakes up. Yes! me and Justin said at the same time.
Justin took the carpet, His name is Ed. You named him. Jenna said. No. I didnt name him, his mother did. Justin replied. Oh. Well thats just great. she said, seeming like she was getting really annoyed. Justin whistled, Come on boy, wanna go for a ride. Ed got off the floor. Hop on. Justin said. Justin climbed onto Ed and then he helped Jenna up. After Jenna was up they each grabbed one of my hands and pulled me up. Wooooosh! and we were out the window. It looked like we were a million feet in the air. Looking down you could see all the farms of Ohio, you could still see the city off in the distance.
Its beautiful. Jenna said with a smile on her face. Yeah, isnt it? Justin said. So where do you guys want to go. Pick anywhere in the whole world. Anywhere? I asked him. Anywhere! he replied with a smile. China Jenna blurted out. You know to eat real Chinese food. You got it. Ed raced to China. We went to a place called Wongs Ching Chong, which stood for Wongs Food Palace. We ate the best pork fried rice ever.
Ok where next? Justin asked. Antarctica. To belly slide with the penguins. Yeah. Ok, that sounds like fun. Ed speeded over to Antarctica. When we got there Justin stood up on Ed and told us to stand behind him and hold on. So Jenna held onto him and then I got behind her and held onto him too so Jenna wouldnt fall. All of a sudden I felt a jolt and Jenna was screaming with the wind blowing trough the side of my head because my face was buried in Jennas t-shirt. We were riding down the hill on Ed. When we reached the bottom Ed stopped quick and we all fell off. That was so awesome lets do it again. I said so excitedly. We cant Justin said, We only have time for one more place, but where?
I got it, lets go to Pompeii. Jenna said. Its an old town in Rome that was burned by the great Mt. Vesuvius. I hear it is so cool to see the ruins. That does sound cool. I said. Lets go. Justin said, Come on Ed we hoped on Ed and headed for the ancient city of Pompeii. When we got there it was all pretty much ash from the volcano. We saw that they had a theater. It was called the Amphitheater. We looked around. It was so cool on how many seats they had there and they even had a stage. Jenna has always wanted to be an actress so she was the first to run to the stage. Justin saw a small golden ring on the ground with three small diamonds in it. The first one was a small blue one and the second one was a big bright red one and then another small blue one. He picked it up and put it in Jennas hand. Jenna was super happy that she put it on her finger but it was a little big so she stuck it in her pocket. She kissed Justin on the cheek an said, Thank you so much for a wonderful night. she smiled and they both blushed. We headed home after that and it was so quiet because we were all just enjoying the view.
When we got home Jenna stuck the ring on a little gold chain and put it around her neck. I got into bed and so did Jenna and Justin flew away with Ed. When my mom woke us up in the morning we told her about our adventures in China, Antarctica and Pompeii but she said we were just dreaming. We kept telling her that it was real and she kept telling us we were dreaming we asked her how could we have the same dream, but she didnt reply. You could tell she was getting fed up with our story so we stopped telling it. The next night Jenna got into her pajamas and she found the ring hanging around her neck on the chain. Thats how we knew we were telling the truth. We even see Justin and Ed riding by our window on nights like that one.
