Death And Taxes
Matt R Kellaher

I tried my best to embarrass you horribly.
Granted the vanity of an open casket,
though the cause of death was a head wound.

I'm surprised I made peace so quickly with the last of my conscience.
And its true, that in life all anyone ever wants is,
the very thing that they can't have.
An alurring sense of: well if I could,
then wouldn't everything be so perfect.
A retorical question,
an answer's not even worth it.
Whats sad is,
the only thing certain,
well the only thing certain is...

Fate is just a way to explain why our hearts beat,
and every passing moment is a chance to change or lose everything.
We're all going exaclty where everyone else is.
(So drink up, while you still can)

I saved face by pretending that I couldn't read a word of,
what that prick at the blackboard wrote.
Why even bother, if you know you can get away with,
treating life as a joke?

A chain reaction of regrets, that has lead me to believe:
that no one in this life has fucked up more than me.

One day you'll look in the mirror,
and all that you'll see:
A heart broken, heart breaker with a college degree.

Speak up!
Or forever hold your sanity.
You're slurring your words and you're talking real low,
come to a conclusion or I'll draw my own.

Why just experiment,
when you can indulge,
what's certain in this life is: nothing's certain at all...

Fate is just a way to explain why our hearts beat,
and every passing moment is a chance to change or lose everything.
We're all going exaclty where everyone else is.
(So drink up, while you still can)

Don't be fooled by the look of desperation on her face.
She knows exactly what she has done...
Kids'll be kids,
under a guise of platonic friends,
to ensure that we all have fun.

Speak up!
Or forever hold your sanity.
You're slurring your words and you're talking real low.
Imagine: living your life, as if it were your own.

Why just experiment,
when you can indulge,
excess in moderation could be good for us all...

...and fate is just a way to explain why our hearts beat,
every passing moment is a chance to change or lose everything.
We're all going exactly where everyone else is:
the unfortunate certainty of...death and taxes.

Fate is just a way to explain why our hearts beat,
and every passing moment is a chance to change or lose everything.
We're all going exaclty where everyone else is.

(So drink up, while you still can)

So drink up,
while you've still got the glass in your hand,
every passing moment is a chance it could end.
Why just experiment,
when you can indulge,
what's certain in this life is: nothing's certain at all...
