After The Trailers
Me

They broke off the kiss, the pink puffy clouds settling in front of the amber sun over the debris of burnt out cars and the flashing sirens of police cars. The Mexicans were lead into the back of the cruisers and the couple, hand in hand are escorted to the police station. Where they sit...for hours. Drinking gritty coffee on arse-numbing plastic chairs. They mumble about being sorry for causing so much damage and having to sit here for so long. Damp eyes meeting each other they look away. After the chase they have nothing in common. A rattle of conversation about wasnt it cool when that cop.. then foot shifting silence.

He cracks his polystyrene cup and she shudders involuntarily. She spits on a hankie drawn from a part burnt pocket and rubs his face. He bats her hand away and sulks.

The cop hitches his trousers up and calls them each into different interview rooms. Hours of painstaking details and they head out, red eyed, hungry and slightly whiffy.

They hug outside the room and leave the station hand in hand, unsure as to where to head next. He suggests his place for a shower and take-away she agrees, the sparkle back in her eyes, another adventure.

Back in his place she sits on the side of the bed drying her hair. She is sure they will be sharing the bed in a bit. She dries off her leg and flings a rather worn looking pair of pants from her foot. Yuck. She spreads her hands over the bed and fumbles over crumbs and tissues. She decides to site demurely on the end of the bed instead. He comes out of the bathroom and sees her, mascara smudged all over her face and wonders for a second if she is the same girl. Smiling he sits next to her and kisses her.

After a bout of not very Hollywood love making (leaning on her hair, bumping heads...) they sit around the kitchen table and she offers to make coffee. Opening up the fridge she sees the green milk, old takeaways and labelled dishes obviously made by his mum. She turns to look at him. The camera pans out and sees a couple, a plain couple in a kitchen.
