And Then I Cried Out ''Why''
R Duncan

And Then I cried Out "WHY"

I looked up from the gutter
And I could see the sky
I thought about the friends I'd lost
A tear came to my eye
I looked at my surroundings
And then I cried out "WHY"?

Why did I let this habit, take control of me?
Why did I let it rule my life, when I wanted to be me?
Why did I let it kill my soul, till all I wanted to do was die?
I looked at where my life is now, then I cried out "WHY"?

Why have my family disowned me, my kids I no longer see?
Why do I blame everyone else, when I can really just blame me?
Why do I sit in self pity, why do I sit and sigh?
I look at where my life is now, and know it's time to try.

To try to beat this habit, that has been beating me
To try stand tall as a man, to set my spirit free
To be that father, husband, friend that I used to be
My strength is in my desire, my desire to be habit free.
