I opened my eyes slowly. Something was wrong, obviously. I sat up quickly- more like bounced up in my fright- and looked around. Something smelled faintly of burning rubber. Opening my eyes proved worthless, for it was pitch black in the room. What was going on? Where was I?
"Sarah..." someone whispered. I was sitting on something cold, which only sent more shivers up my spine at the whisper.
"Who are you?" I wanted to call bravely, but I couldn't speak. The feeling was that of stepping into a shower expecting it to nice and warm, and it to be icy cold- causing you to jump back, gasp, but not be able to speak.
"Sarah..." it sounded like a little girl. Well, how dangerous could a little girl be? But then...how did she know my name?
"Why am I here?" I managed to force. My voice was scratchy and hard for even myself to hear.
As I became accustomed to the darkness a bright white light switched on, blinding me temporarily. I blinked and shut my eyes tightly, afraid to open them again.
"Look up, Sarah. Don't be afraid of the light. It's only a light...harmless, white light..." the voice whispered.
I bit my lip, wishing to be anywhere but here. Should I dare open my eyes? How could you trust a voice? How could you not?
I looked up quickly and suddenly to find something staring down at me with a painted face of evil. It was a black shadow, with a twisted look of hate and rage permenately etched into itself.
I couldn't manage to look away. The thing was so overcoming, so powerful, so morbidly fascinating that only those of the strongest will could barely succeed in pulling their gaze away.
"See? The light has not harmed you. The light will not harm you." the voice, apparently coming from the shadow, whispered.
I was calmed. It was soothing, gazing at such a creature. It transformed before my eyes- a beautiful angel in front of me! Beautiful, beautiful angel...never meant to hurt me...
"The light won't harm you," the angel sung in perfect melody as it floated to my feet such as a single red leaf in autumn.

I reached forward to touch, to see closer this image of perfection when it hastened back to its own black shadow..the evil beside me, the evil here with me...the evil here to kill me.
"No, no, the light shall never harm you. But I, I will." and with that it lunged forward to take my life...
