Deaths Door On The Gallipoli
Sasu

Societies inequities have now drawn sour,
I can hear the thunder rolling as my fear swims upstream,
It rips inside this frame on dreary nightfalls dream,
Gunfire, rocketshells fall in my minds eye in the distance of my hell,
The patter of the old rain on feet so cold I feel denied,
Orders pursued by the French on the bank of the Gallipoli,

The Anzacs combine, but in my heart we are alone
War comes for us, we cannot run, we cannot hide,
The guns come closer as the night drains light,
Were holding on to the Peninsular, but soon they will want it back,
As dark as the Hells mirror and as loud as pain,
An explosion awakens our souls in the sodden night rain,

Blood falls from sky, screaming engulfs the atmosphere,
Everyone suddenly ready to be apart of this fear,
Red rain now real pain, gunfire now a threat so dire,
I dare not sit back nor let my judgment pass way,
The Watchman shall watch this new World be created today,
The thunder cracks, revealing our enemies aplenty,

These eyes see much, a second glance is much required,
Allied offensive arrive and push our will, they know our position as we tire,
The Aegean coastline at Suvla Bay, the foot hills of the Anafarta Hills,
We sit, scared, hungry, fearfull, tearfull, wishing on a truce,
Thoughts racing at what fate is to unfold,
My loved one awaits me at home knows this fate, my mind is told,

As I press my eyes together, these are the last thoughts I may endosre,
Shall I surrender my soul, shall I surrender on this course?
I may die in pain, I may live and gain, whatever happens now, happens on this plain,
We charge down the slippery banks of the Dardanelles Straits,
Orange gun fire unpacks, and white lightning flashes with depth,
Screams flute past my ear, but I'm too focused on the greensuit ahead,

As I plunge into him, he yelps with a scream of death,
My War has now started, all chance of a truce now bereft,
I shoot, we shoot, the thunder cracks above to top of the foot,
Out of the misty hollowed night my answer to live is now questioned,
An enemy and I break away from the debree, we break free,
We glare at each other, hateful murderous visions do wield inside minds tortured by War,

The wet, grassy Kum Kale on the Asiatic coast floats old in the mind,
In the wamrth of this home, I recall on memories so old,
Living in a world of Ipods, macs, sneakers and slacks,
My heart collapsed years ago, my fear and love did never show,
This war we fight, these fights we wage,
Is but a passing recollection on the door of deaths stage.
