Deer Valley
Most people were sleeping when I had to get up at 7:00 am to go to Deer Valley. My sister and I had this ski school program every Sunday to get even better at skiing. The saddest part was that it is the last Sunday at ski school. My group consists of five kids including me. Their names are Jaren, Michael, Tomas, and Anne. Over the course of six weeks we almost skied all in the ski resort, and it was 25 to 30 runs in a day.
Once at the ski resort I was trying to get my skis on when the wind started to pick up. When the wind blew across my face it felt like the Artic snow. I got to the top of the run where all the kids gather to get the day started; it was a parade just to find my instructor. The instructor that I had was Andy, and he is from Australia. Andy was at the very end of the hustle and bustle of all the kids, waiting for me and my group.
In the morning we started with some fun stuff. We did the spine, which is a rail totally made out of ice and snow. In the morning is when Andy teaches us new concepts on how to ski smoother. Later in the day we review all the new things that we learned, and then it is the kids time to choose where we go skiing. The very last part of the day I tough a lesson that we covered over the five weeks on short turns. I taught that lesson because it is very important to skiing; we need to know this because it applies to doing mogul and many other things.
At the end of the day we had to perform in a show for all our parents. Our show had more of a racing theme to it. We had balloons on our helmet and boots. We started in a line and I was the leader. We did some regular turns, and then broke off to do some ide bit short turns. Then at the bottom we would pop all the balloons on our selves. We worked on this for five weeks because we didnt want to make fouls of our selves since we are suppose to be expert skiers.
I was on the chair lift when I saw my parents waiting for my group to perform. At the top we were getting ready, but my group was having trouble putting the balloons on our ski boots and helmets. We were the second to last group. When I got on the run it was exhilarating, with all the people on the sides yelling and clapping. Off we went down the run; at the bottom I popped all the balloons except the on one my helmet, Andy had to come over and pop it for me. At the end of that wonderful Sunday Andy gave me a Deer Valley pin to represent all the fun, and the hard ship we went through. It was one of those things that you wish that would never end.
