Distracted By The Machines Of Man...
Bruce Anthony Huston

Distracted by the machines of man,
pause a moment in your every day
and lie on a bed of grass.
Golden brown would be the choice for Death
while green makes the world envy.

Lie back and focus your eyes
on only the clouds, the white
shapes of any imagination.
Enjoy prestigious knights helms
brush away the increasing spiders
who may take a glance at your literate hand.

Spend a moment or two in the terrible heat
so you can enjoy the shade more with a crush.

Enjoy the thought of a foreign time
when you were a mini-cowboy
or a young girl with your first white dress
and matching knee socks.
The clouds break away from the horizon
but youll still own the hat and the boots
or the first of the summer sunflower dresses.
