Fear Of Water E Rocco Caldwell
"We can sit and discuss this like two rational human beings or end it right now. My time is valuable to me if not you and I won't put up with such outbursts!"
But you don't understand fear like I understand it!
It's been two months since the state place me in this place. No one wants to listen to my warnings. At first I thought it was to protect me but now I see it was only to detain me or to contain what they think is madness. Three times a week I come to Doctor Randall's office with his white coat and wire framed glasses. His constant sipping of a glass of water and clearing of his throat because he is too insane to know smoking is bad for his health. That inside his body the tar is clogging vitals and squeezing the very life from him. If he saw what was happening inside him than he would know fear like I know it. Right as we speak a similar thing is happening but on a bigger scale.
"I just don't like to sit down, Doctor."
"I assure you, Anne, there is nothing to be afraid of. Sitting can help relax you and that makes my job that much easier."
But you don't understand fear like I understand it! How can you say there is nothing to fear?
"I rather stand," I say.
"Damn it to hell than," he snaps. He sips from the glass of water and I can see where his saliva mingles with the water inside the glass it forms a spider web for a moment. He thinks the water he sips from is clean and pure? I know better and that is fear! "We can't move on unless you give in and sit down!"
"I really rather stand."
"Fine!" he explodes.
"I don't have a phobia my fear is real," I tell him.
"All fears are real, Anne. That isn't the issue is it? The issue is how we allow those fears to dominate our lives. Your fears have dominated you to a point of illusions!"
He wasn't there so of course he can quote that garbage he learned in college or read in some journal concerning fear. If fear reached up and grabbed him he wouldn't be quoting journals anymore. He would see the pure essence of fear and its results. He would have a deeper knowledge like a guru concerning fear.
"I'm not crazy, Doctor. It will happen like I've said."
"That would be the water supply being contaminated and then what?"
"Do you know where the water from your tab comes from?" I know what's there growing as we speak!"
"Anne, don't you see that the fears you have are only in your mind? There is nothing to be afraid of."
"I was exactly like you, Doctor. I thought there was nothing to be afraid of but I was wrong. First, I felt something cold before I even heard the disturbance of the water. It made me look down between my legs."
"What was there," he asks?
"It was there and had crawled up and out of my toilet."
What?" he screams.
"A python!"
"Good lord, woman that must have been horrible?"
"Yes."
"So there lies the center of your fear. I can understand why you refuse to sit but you need to know, something like that only occurs one in a million times."
I shake my head in disbelief. Maybe one time that might have been true.
"You don't get it do you, Doctor! The python was a female and she has just laid her eggs!"
His eyes grew the sizes of softballs as he looked down into the water of glass he just sipped.

"Good story, but needs some editing. A lot of typos in your work. It would read easier if the errors are corrected." -- Molly B.
"thanks for the tip. I posted it without checking. I was in a hurry. I did go over the story and mkae corrections." -- e. rocco caldwell.
"Rocco...this almost had me gripped to the edge of my seat..but the ending confused me, partly because I wasn't sure who was speaking, and partly because I didn't understand the source of the irrational or rational fear. Constructive critisicm aside, the premise of the story is interesting and horrific, and I feel you have a very good grasp of the macabre. I particularly liked "saliva mingles with the water inside the glass it forms a spider web for a moment". Descriptive and observational ! " -- Harvey Kennett, Chelmsford, Essex, UK.
"I agree with you on the ending. It needs to be clearer. Good points." -- e. rocco caldwell.
"Very good piece, Rocco. It enthralled me completely." -- Joe Pena.
"Aagain thank you for your review. I enjoy writing these types of pieces." -- e. rocco caldwell.
