Goodbye My Friend
Thomas Buck

Steady and slow was the way
We shared so many humorous quips over so many days
I loved our laughs
I cherished each moment we shared

Over time our trust grew
You were the first to reveal yourself
Your disclosures surprised me
Your friendship revived me

It took a while but I opened up to you
Not a natural thing for me to do
But my deepest trust you earned
And now you know all of my secrets

My feelings for you escalated
I shouldnt be sad that yours stayed behind
But I let you know them
And I couldnt control them

God how things change so fast
Now your pace quickens and you walk past
Does it really need to be such an extreme
From friends to almost lovers to you being mean

Maybe one day you will talk to me
Tell me why you have pulled completely away
I wish for you happiness
And for us friendship again one day

Goodbye my friend

"This is a great poem Tom. It does a good job of showing how some of your greatest friendships can go sour in a minute and sometimes you don't know why or what you can do to save them, if you can do anything at all, other than say goodbye" -- Steven.
"Very good, very good! perhaps the rhymes could be more consistent, but still enjoyable. thanks for offering it." -- dw, Va.
