My Cat
E Rocco Caldwell

My cat is twenty-five feet tall
From paw to ear from ear to paw
I'm uncomfortable with his height
So large obstructing the sun's light

Some say it was caused by a pip
More like radiated catnip
That came from plants in Singapore
Near the rivers toxin waste's poured

He's a bother when he wants to play
He likes to jump and likes to fray
Bed sheets and Persian rugs and things
Pickets fences and worldly kings

Night comes an ungodly meow
That pierces darkness like a ship's bow
Run asunder on neighbors' ears
From my room's window come the swears

But he adorns so soft a fur
And that peaceful lovingly purr
That can summons heavenly host
And tourists come from coast to coast

So life with my cat is good and bad
As generally life is tagged
And habit can be a large cat
Just like a monkey on one's back
