Note: This is a song my dad wrote right before
his death, I thought Storymania readers might
like it.
When you lay awake at night,
your heart consumed by fright, your sad eyes
filled with tears,
from all your years of fears,
Try to smile, even if just for a little while,
and remember me in your heart.
When you think sad thoughts,
and feel so distraught,
you wake in the morning,
and all you feel like doing is mourning,
try to to dry away your tears,
please try to shed your fears,
and remember me in your heart.
When you think of the past,
and the love that didn't last,
and you dream in your sleep,
of feelings so loving, so deep,
remember to keep me in your heart.
and when you think of me,
a man so wild and free,
a man who drank his life away,
remember it was nothing personal,
that it had always just been my way.
And do me one last favor,
when you think of me,
a man so lost and lonely,
experienced in life,
but yet still too blind to see,
Just remember me in your heart.
