THE AUTHOR
I am an ambulance assistant with a private ambulance service, under contract to Metropolitan Ambulance Service, Melbourne Australia. I have never considered myself a poet, however sometimes I like to write passages that come to mind. As you can see I have no formal training, bit I like to write about things around me.

The Ambo's of Alex
High up in the hills, where the snow gums grow
There's a group of people, who are a pleasure to know
They are dedicated to the cause, and do their job well
They are the Ambo's of Alex, with many stories to tell
Their service is linked, to the best in the land
With volunteers ready, always on hand
They stand by their trucks, awaiting the call
That will start their lights flashing, to assist one and all
On the way out to the lake, on the far side of town
There is a horrible smash, victims wandering around
A merc with young adults, molded into the dash
A car and a truck, it's a terrible crash
It's been a wonderful day, and now deep into the night
They all passed their exams, and the beer was not "light"
There's a strong smell of fuel, to ad to their hell
The merc hangs on the cliff, another story to tell
There are lights in the distance, some blue and some red
And the sound of a siren, can be heard through the dread
The Ambo's of Alex, have responded again
To do what they are good at, at times all in vain
I admire these men and women who wait
Who spend their time training, maybe save the life of a mate
They are dedicated to the cause, and do their job well
They're the Ambo's of Alex, with many stories to tell
