The Blood Taster's Club - Ending

As we always had done on Friday evenings, we'd
gathered in front of my fireplace in my study,
sipping the finest red wine and snacking on
finger sandwiches, which George was INHALING
instead of chewing, the lumps in his juicy
gullet the size of golfballs each time he'd
take a swallow.
I glanced away from him at the other members;
Joseph, Roland, and James, to see by the look in
their eyes that they were tuned into my wavelength.

With three quick winks and nods, I started
the inevitable conversation.
''Well, George old boy,'' I began, ''What do
you think of the finger sandwiches? I made them
for a pittance, actually.''
''Oh,'' he said, attempting to speak through a
huge mouthful of food, resembling a penguin
swallowing a live fish, ''I think they're
INDIFFERENT, but at the same time...well...
...EVASIVE. Wouldn't you agree?''
''In other words, you think that they were less
than satisfactory?''
''Well, no.....but...''
''BUT NOTHING, George,'' I'd said. ''What you
are saying is, in an INDIRECT fashion, is that
they weren't as tasty as my normally delectable
cuisine?''

He'd looked as though he'd been hit by a
lightning bolt at first; a stupified look
having spread across his fat little face, and all
drooling and chewing and swallowing had ceased
instantly.
Suddenly, his eyes began bulging from their
sockets, his face pale, as he snatched up his
wine glass, tipping it to his raw liver colored
lips, and drained what was left in it in one,
huge, slobbering gulp.
Then, it happened; he coughed up the first, big
hairball, well, FURBALL, actually, which then
proceeded to slide down his chbbuy little chin
amidst a stream of thick, dark BLOOD.

His face, although regaining some color, was
still pale and ghastly, his mouth now nothing but
a big, cavernous, crimson maw, a disgusting and
bloody rictus of terror.
Then, it happened again.
This time he'd coughed up a bloody BONE, a bone
about the size of.....an ANIMAL BONE?
then had proceeded to fall over face first into
the tray of ''appetizers,'' I'd cooked up just
especially for him, his face having slammed down
into the Captain Foo-Foo doggy patte and splattering
was left of the poor pooch {Even John's Hopkins,
the guys who'd designed Robocop, and Nasa,
couldn't have put that annoying little bastard
back together again}, all over my Persian rugs,
and actually to my DELIGHT, nonetheless.

That's what carpet cleaners are for, after all.

Afterward, Roland, Joseph, James and I all
raised our wine glasses in a mock toast to old
Georgie boy, swallowing the liquid ambrosia that
had sustained us so well over the years.

Well...CENTURIES, to be exact.
