The Burglar, My Husband And I

We retired to bed quite late one Saturday
evening. The children were fast asleep in
there rooms. I was awaken by some strange
noise as if someone was trying to break in.
I decided to leave the light off. It was
quite dark, it must be about 12 O'clock at
night. l lay almost frozen, l searched with
my hands to wake my husband up. I panicked
he was not there. Where is he? Had he gone
to deal with the burglars? His he alive? I was
in real panick and l dared move. My concerns
were about my children. I could still hear
the banging. I reached out for the telephone,
which was near my bed. I managed to dial, 999.
They told me to stay where l was, and that
they will sent out a police van immediately.
I lay in bed frozen with fright. The banging
continued.I heard shouting. Hang on that voice
was formuliar. I jumped out of bed. lifted the
curtains in the dark. I was relieved to see
the Police van aproaching at the end of the dark
road. I looked down below. There in the dark night,
in stood my beloved husband. In his white vest and undies
Shouting for me to get him in. He was locked out.
I quickly ran downstair and let him in and quickly
rang the Police before they could arrest him in his
Sunday best.
The alarm bell and gone off and he had gone to
investiate and to turn it off and locked himself out!
