The Last Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood
Brandon Colcleasure

Surfing the channels for a smiling face
I stop, stare into an old man's place
He sings the lies I'm sure arn't true
And all it does is make me think of you

I'm sorry Mr. Rogers
It's not such a
Beautiful Day in my neighborhood today
It's been the same since she went away

I hate this story but if you'll listen
You'll hear a tale of the one I'm missing
So put your smile down, sit down
This is how it goes

I met her through my best friend
But I can't exactly remember when
He said someday but not right now
It's funny when I think of how
Happy I had been

A few years passed
And then at last
After all that time
I could call her mine

And all was good
In my neighborhood
But one day
She had to say
Goodbye!

I'm sorry Mr. Rogers
It just isn't a
Beautiful day in my neighborhood today
So I'll finish and go away
Cuz I'll only bring you down with what
I have to say

After that I fell to alcohol
Though it didn't help at all
And whatever pill brought me here
Doesn't mix well with beer

I can tell you're bored
So I'll delay no more
And in the flash
He smiled his last
As I said
Goodbye!
