ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I am 13 years old and I write poems and short stories in my spare time. I also play sports like volleyball, golf, basketball, and tennis.

I won a poetry slam at my public library in April. I also won the Young Writers poetry contest in my region as well. I was also chosen to be published in a poetry book in the Creative Communications Poetry Contest, and I am awaiting news on whether or not I was one of the Top 10 poets for the Grade 7-9 division.

I have a 4.0 GPA and I strive to get good grades in all of my classes. My favorite school subject is English. I won my school spelling bee and advanced all the way to regionals (6th place at regionals; 5th place to go to state). I have received the Presidential Award of Excellence 2 years in a row. I also competed in my school's Geography Bee and was runner up for 2 years in a row. I also have played the tenor saxophone for 3 years and counting, and I was chosen to be in the All-State Minnesota Honor Band in 2007 and 2006. I was also chosen this year to be in All-State Minnesota Honor Choir.

"I know what it feels like to be a thirtenn year old writer. i was one only three years ago. you have alot of good ideas, but your'e just having problems expressing them in a mature way that most readers can identify with. it's not your fault, there's nothing you can do about it. your age is all thats holding you back, your life experiences. Like Abbe Faria told Dante : "you havent lived long enough to have anything to say." thats the best way i can explain your situation; you just need time to grow as a writer. however, keep practicing your prose, and you will get better. i promise, in three or four years, you are going to look back on what you've wrriten now and be like "What the hell was i thinking when i wrote this?"" -- Bryan King.
"I totally disagree with the last review, I think you have real potential. The one thing I think you should try and do with every story, is to start it off with a gripping piece of drama and then calm it down a little with all the descriptions, etc. For a 13 yr old, I think your writing is excellent, goodness knows what you will be able to produce after a few more years under your belt. Well done!!!" -- Jackie Stevens, Essex, United Kingdom.
